True Servant Of God

60-wrong-wayTo be a real servant of God has nothing to do with WHAT one does but rather with WHY one does what (s) he does.

One of the things that an employee must have to be a formal contract from the employer. The contract must state your responsibilities and your entitlements. Likewise to qualify as God’s employee one must have divine contract – be deployed into a certain service by God. You can’t just take yourself into God’s ministry without His instruction and expect to be blessed by God.

The number one calling of any believer is to follow God’s instructions. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus made clear that confessing Him as the Lord (employer) and yet fail to do what He says disqualify anybody from being His disciple. Doing whatever you’ve never been called for is rebellion that attracts negative consequences from God. This is because whatever God has not called me for He will not provide the tools to excel at it. Even if we manage to do the job well, He won’t pay us for that. Called to be a pastor but serving as a businessman is as sin as serving as a pastor but called to be a businessman.

So one might preach the gospel, bring the masses to Christ and cast all demons. But if that was not one’s calling, God will not reward one for it. Listen to what Jesus said in Matthew 7:22-24 “On judgment day many will tell me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ Nevertheless, I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ “(NLT)

Today take time to ask God to reveal His purpose for your life. Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower you to fulfil His purpose to the full.
